Just finished inks on the last couple pages of THE SOLAR GRID’s first Mars scene which clears next week for my Japan scene. I don’t plan on going overtly manga in my styling, but I do plan on utilizing a number techniques that are quite common in manga, namely the stuff I outlined in Comix Engine #5.
That’s not till Monday though. I break for the weekend except for a few commissions. Oh yeah, I announced on Twitter earlier in the week that I’m making myself available to commissions. One inked character on 11”x17” Britstol for $150 a pop. Let me know if you’d like to book a slot for the following weekend.

Who would like to join the Isles of Blogging with their very own Islette?
Well, the fine folks at write.as have given me an additional Pro Subscription (valued at $60 annually) that I can pass on to anyone. And it’ll stay active for as long as my account is active (it’s what I use for Ganzeer.Today).
Happy to trade for it. In exchange fooooor… a comicbook (or heck, a stack of them if you’d like)? Reply with a note letting me know what comix you’d like to send, and I’ll pick one lucky winner.

We may not have been able to hold a book-talk in fleshspace, but we figured why not jump on the Zoom bandwagon like all the cool kids?
This Sunday, April 26th, you’ll be able to stream a virtual talk on PrintedMatter.org between Molly Crabapple, Elliot Colla, Sarah Lopez and myself about WE ARE ALL THINGS, the lovely little chapbook Radix Media put out for us, the one Publisher’s Weekly had this to say about: “The slim volume conveys a moment shot from a dozen angles, a room with tentacles that expand deep into time and space.”

And now for… the mail:
From: Huda Lutfi
dear ganzeer
thank you for sharing you work and your creative thoughts. i hope you are well and safe in houston, how is life there during this critical situation? i turned to stitching lately, it soothes my soul, and its a break from painting and collaging, etc. i enjoy doing it alone. i go for early morning walks in the city, and watch movies or series in the evenings. cairo is quiet after 5pm when all the shops have closed, but during the day it is still hustling and bustling, so i try to avoid crowds whenever i go to buy food or when i have to go to the bank.even this will pass...
warmest regards
huda
So great to hear from you! Didn’t realize you were on this mailing list. It feels like a million years since I last saw you.
With self-quarantine in place, Houston is pretty quaint. None of the Cairo-style hustle and bustle you speak of, neither during the day or evening (which is as it should be if you ask me, and quite frankly has me worried about folks back in Egypt 😬). Although, it would've been nice to at least have a kind of quarantine gang, a tight group of friends that would get together from time to time (but not with anyone else!). Not easily doable in a city you just moved to though. 🤷🏻♂️
Your stitching activities sound a lot like what inking and watercolor are to me; a break from the relative "headiness" involved in drawing and other art-making. Instead I lose myself to a trance of calming brush strokes. It’s totally soothing.
So lovely to hear from you, Huda. Let's stay in touch and keep each other updated, please.
All my love - stay strong, stay awesome,
Ganzeer
